Hello and welcome to the official blog of the newly formed podcast The SocialOut Cast. We’re just getting starting and we won’t be posting our first podcast for about three weeks, but let us tell you a little bit about what to expect on our show.
As you’ll read on our About page, the podcast was formed by Rachael Rae on one inspirational afternoon in October 2011 (well, yesterday actually). Always one to enjoy expressing her opinions, Rachael thought that a great way of challenging not only the views of her peers and wider community, but also those of her own, was to start a podcast that explored controversial issues and hot topics. She took advantage of the minds of Nick Ford, Tim Nicol, Jesse Clarke and Michelle Garrett (promising them Drambuie and various other delights) and began organising ideas for The SocialOut Cast.
The SocialOut Cast will be a new and exciting forum for discussion of the issues that our hosts and our audience find most interesting, appalling, important or controversial. No topic is off limits so we invite anyone with a keen desire to rock the boat to write in to TheSocialOut@gmail.com with any subject or issue they want to hear the bold young minds of Sydney argue over.
The hosts here at The SocialOut are passionate people and we will be starting our discussions with those topics we know and love until we get some listener feedback. Some juicy issues you may find emerging in our discussions include sexuality, gender equality, feminism, fat politics, racism, drug use and abuse, immigration and detention, the sex industry and environmental issues.
Currently we know our show will consist of the five hosts mentioned above who will appeared regularly. However, we wish to have a broad range of opinions and ideas on the show so we will be inviting others to come join us as either topic specialists or special guests and if we like them enough, we might ask them to come back.
When we say no topic is off limits we really do mean it, so please read our episode summary to check for any trigger warnings or topics you may find offensive before listening. We also stress that the opinions expressed are only that, opinions. If any facts are claimed throughout any episode we will endeavour to bring you the sources of our information in the episode summary.
We’re super excited to be starting this project and we hope we’ve intrigued you enough to give our first episode a listen in a few weeks. If you have and questions or comments send them to TheSocialOut@gmail.com.
